We will notify them of your generosity and place a dedication bookplate with their name on the inside front cover of the prayer book. TBJ Mitzvah Arugah Knitting Group – 7:00pm – Thursday, September 7. The knitting class will resume meeting every Thursday night starting September 7. Holiday Honey Cake Baking with Nava - 10:00am on Sunday, September 10. Baker extraordinaire - Cantor Nava Herzog - has agreed to share her top secret and very delicious honey cake recipe and walk us through the necessary steps. Join us in making this holiday delicacy. Help make some for distribution to the congregation on Rosh HaShana and take home your very own - along with a copy of the coveted recipe. All ingredients are kosher and will be baked in the Kosher Dairy Kitchen ovens. Fee - $10 gets your personal honey cakes to take home. Don't want your own honey cakes but want to join in the fun? Come and help us bake for the congregation - No cost!
Reverse Tashlich - 1:30pm on Sunday, September 10 at Plum Point Park on Route 9W in Newburgh. Tashlich is the Rosh Hashanah ritual in which Jews begin the New Year by symbolically casting off last year's sins by tossing bread crumbs into a body of water. This year we will remove pollution from the water and clean up local waterfronts. Come dressed ready to work outside. Bring garbage bags, rakes & work gloves. Everyone is welcome to join this national movement to improve our planet. No cost to attend, but please RSVP by September 7
Sisterhood Book Club – 12:30pm on Thursday, September 21 at the temple. The book is “The Thread Collectors” by Shaunna J. Edwards & Alyson Richman.
Sisterhood Tea in the Sukkah – 2:00pm on Sunday, October 1 featuring guest speaker Alexandra Church, the Director of Planning and Development of the City of Newburgh, as she talks about the efforts to rebuild and revitalize the city. $18 for sisterhood members/$20 for non-members. Gift of Life Bone Marrow Swabbing Drive – Stem cell donors needed for the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. Donors swab the inside of their cheeks and complete a registration form, must be 18 to 35 years old and in good health. Volunteers are also needed for a couple of hours to help find someone’s match. Jewish Civil Rights Tour – March 31 – April 2, 2024 - Join Rabbi Kohn and professional Jewish Civil Rights Tour Educators to Georgia and Alabama.
