Holocaust Torah | Scroll #754
During the course of World War II, the Nazis collected the sacred objects of destroyed Jewish communities including the Torah scrolls. After the war, Westminster Synagogue inherited these scrolls. Temple Beth Jacob is home to scroll #754. It resides in our ark as a holy reminder of our near destruction and our ultimate survival. While we can no longer read from this Torah, we read from others placed alongside #754 and these we read with strength and spirit as our community in Newburgh and around the world flourishes.
