Sisterhood Book Club – 12:30pm on Thursday, May 21, at the temple. Discussion of the book “Kaplan’s Plot” by Jason Diamond. A Chicago-based family saga that follows a disgraced tech worker, Elijah, as he returns home to care for his dying mother and uncovers a secret history of his family's involvement in the Jewish mob of the 1920s and 30s. Exploring themes of intergenerational trauma, identity, and the American Dream through the intertwined stories of Elijah, his mother Eve, and his gangster grandfather Yitz. The novel blends present-day Chicago with the past, creating a story that is part gangster epic, part family drama, and part exploration of Jewish-American life.

TBJ is launching the TBJ 180 Fund to support ongoing Tikkun Olam—Saving the World projects in Newburgh and our wider community. Funds will help ongoing projects—filling food pantries, knitting hats for the homeless, feeding the hungry on Christmas, and new projects to be launched by our TBJ Tikkun Olam—Saving the World Committee. Please make your start-up donation of $18 to seed this new fund and launch this comprehensive Jewish Saving the World effort.
