We will be discussing the first section Simple Goodness pages 1-24 of the book Jewish Stories from Heaven and Earth edited by Rabbi Dov Peretz Elkins. The book is available on Amazon but it may take a few weeks to get. Please try to order it. You will love the stories!

Synagogue Leadership Series – 12:00 – 1:30pm every other Sunday starting on November 9 – May 21. This series looks at the gamut of synagogue leadership, but it is designed for anyone: the leader, the Jew in the Pew, and the non-Jewish person. Understand the Jewish world from how it works!
The Sacred Struggle: Jewish Responses to Trauma – Dealing with Tough Stuff – 7:00 – 8:30pm on Tuesday, November 11 & 18. How does Jewish tradition promote resilience, emotional honesty, feeling pain and loss rather than anger and dismay, and how do we engage one another in the moments which life brings us. Participants are encouraged to get a copy of the book and bring it to both sessions.
Sisterhood Book Club – 1:00pm on Thursday, November 20. Discussion of the book The Song of Hartgrove Hall by Natahsa Solomons. Stained Glass Series: Newburgh’s Interfaith Clergy at TBJ – 7:30pm on Friday, November 21 featuring the Reverend Dr. Dollyann Newkirk-Briggs of Baptist Temple Church in Newburgh, the first female leader of the historic congregation. She holds degrees from Dutchess Community College, a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Theology from the Newburgh Bible Institute. Rev. Dr. Briggs is also retired from the State of NY Department of Environmental Conservation, NYS Division of Parole and NYS Department of Correctional Services working in the Medical Records X-Ray Department.
Fun, Conversational Hebrew – 7:00 – 8:30pm on Tuesday from December 2 through February 3. In this Ulpan – shared conversational Hebrew Learning – we will speak with one another in easy Hebrew, develop some basic vocabulary, learn some grammatical structures and have fun! Materials will be provided. No prior skill needed.
Gift of Life Bone Marrow Swabbing Drive – Stem cell donors needed for the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. So far we have 157 Matches! Donors swab the inside of their cheeks and complete a registration form and must be in good health. Volunteers are also needed for a couple of hours to help find someone’s match. Tai Chi –Wednesdays at 11am. Join certified instructor Bryon Abrams as he teaches us mind-body practices and meditation to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, decrease anxiety, depression & fatigue. Donations appreciated.
