Save the Date!
Meet Rabbi David Saperstein, Director of the URJ Religious Action Center the weekend of October 22-24.
Designated in Newsweek's 2009 list as the most influential
rabbi in the country and described in a Washington Post profile
as "the quintessential religious lobbyist on Capitol Hill," Rabbi David
Saperstein represents the national Reform Jewish Movement to Congress
and the Administration as the Director of the Religious Action Center of
Reform Judaism. The Center not only advocates on a broad range of
social justice issues but provides extensive legislative and
programmatic materials to synagogues nationwide, and coordinates social
action education programs that train nearly 3,000 Jewish adults, youth,
rabbinic and lay leaders each year.
Further information and itinerary to be announced soon.

YOUNG ADULTS GATHER FOR DINNER AND A MOVIE A message from Jessica Lustbader
Saturday, July 31: The weather that evening was perfect for
a few young adults to get together for some BBQ and a screening of the short
film "The Tribe". Sponsored by Taglit-Birthright's NEXT Shabbat program, I was
able to get funding for a Shabbat/havdallah gathering at my parent's home. With
plenty of food, and good friends, it was a night of conversation, followed by
watching the movie, which gave a commentary of Jewish life and history using
the Barbie doll as its focus.
This event will hopefully be followed by many more events
for 20-30 year old Jewish young adults in the community. If you know anyone who
would be interested in joining our group, please e-mail me at JessicaLatc@yahoo.com.
Note: You do not need
to be a member of Temple Beth Jacob to join these get togethers.
